~ Vocabulary versus Collocations ~ |
Notes: Collocations are words that occur in language in groups or chunks or phrases.
They occur more often than by chance. In other words, collocations are not random.
Idioms and sayings are also examples of collocations. They are fundamentals of language.
On the other hand, vocabulary are words presented in isolation. There is no context.
One could memorize a dictionary and never learn to speak. Interaction is essential.
